KCBS News Feed2009 KCBS Tour Schedule Announced
January 28, 2009 The official schedule for KCBS's 2009 Great American BBQ Tour was announced this past weekend at the society's annual banquet, which was held in Nashville, TN.Now in its second year, the tour will once again travel coast to coast to visit 25 festivals throughout the nation. Five new states were added to the roster this year, and 18 of the events are official KCBS-sanctioned contests both large and small. More than 2.7 million people will be in attendance at the events.
"This has been a wonderful program for KCBS and our national sponsors," commented Carolyn Wells, KCBS co-founder and executive director. "It (the tour) allows us to fulfill our mission, as well as introduce KCBS to countless new BBQ fans."
At every stop, the tour will feature cooking demos, free food samples and occasional interviews with BBQ champions competing on the KCBS circuit. One of the key demo points is to help grilling enthusiasts to understand the difference between grilling and true barbeque techniques. After sitting through the 30-minute demo, it's easy to see why KCBS has become known far and wide as "America's BBQ Experts."
