Inaugural Sam's Club BBQ Bash This Weekend in Oklahoma

August 18, 2010

The Big Weekend is almost here! Twenty-five of KCBS's hottest teams are setting their sights on Midwest City, Okla., and gearing up for the inaugural Sam's Club BBQ Bash.

A pilot program, The Sam’s Club BBQ Bash is part of the company's new sponsorship program of KCBS and competition barbeque. In an effort to support the barbeque industry and its related suppliers, Sam's Club invited 25 of the highest ranked KCBS teams in America to Oklahoma for a chance at $25,000 in cash.

“This is an exciting opportunity for competition barbeque and KCBS,” said Carolyn Wells, executive director of KCBS. “Sam’s Club is really delving into our industry and trying to support every aspect of what we do. The teams who get to participate in this pilot program will have a chance to help us and Sam’s Club formulate a great, rewarding program for 2011.”

Bob Fields, senior director of Meat and Deli for Sam’s Club, agreed with Wells and noted that this is just a starting point. “Our immediate goal is to use this competition to showcase and reward the talents of the top KCBS teams, while at the same time turning it into an educational experience for our Members, partners, suppliers and associates. Our industry-leading meat and fresh departments truly want to understand, serve and support this industry.”

Sam’s Club will be helping KCBS further its mission to promote barbeque by conducting demos that focus on meat safety, cooking tips and flavoring techniques. Several Sam’s Club suppliers will be on-site to help educate and interact with consumers.

“This is definitely an ideal opportunity to promote barbeque as America’s Cuisine, and we couldn’t be more excited to have Sam’s Club as our partner in doing that,” Wells said.

KCBS certainly invites all members to join us for this inaugural Sam’s Club BBQ Bash. But if you can’t make it, don’t worry. If all goes well, this amazing event could show up in 2011 at a Sam’s Club near you!

The Perfect Performance!
