The 2013 Sam's Club National BBQ Tour is getting ready to hit the road in February, and you better believe it'll be bigger and better in 2013! Directed once more by KCBS pitmaster Troy Black, the $500,000-prize tour will wind its way through interstates, back roads and valleys looking to crown this year's National Champion.
From the North to the South, East and to the West, and everywhere in between, the Sam's Club National BBQ Tour is inviting teams from all over to compete in what is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated BBQ competitions of the year. In the end, only one team will walk away with the title of National Champion. It is anyone’s guess as to who will follow the 2012 National Champion Lucky’s Q. Oh, and if national prestige isn’t your “thing” then just remember that $500,000 is again up for grabs!
Team registration for the 2013 Sam's Club National BBQ Tour begins on Jan. 9, 2013 at 7 PM CDT. Mark your calendars and be ready, spots will fill up quickly! When preparing to register, be sure to have your team name, KCBS member number and method of payment ready before registering. If you are not a KCBS member, you can join today by clicking here. As in past years, payments can be made online through PayPal or by calling the KCBS office with your credit card number.
New for 2013 Registration:
There will be a live-hosted support chat during team registration from 6:30-8 PM CDT for questions and registration issues. Instructions for accessing the live chat will be posted to KCBS platforms closer to Jan. 9.
In the event a team is not able to compete or would like to change their event (where available), teams are now able to opt out online. Note: Refund rules and policy are still applicable.
It is the goal of KCBS and Sam's Club to fill every local team spot in the 2013 competition. If after 30 days of registration this has not occurred, an Open Enrollment process will be considered to fill the remaining spots. If that occurs, rules and timing for that process will be announced prior to the Open Enrollment period.
While a team is on a waitlist for its preferred contest, that team will now be able to register for a second contest (which may have open team positions at the time) WITHOUT jeopardizing the team's original waitlist position during the process. However, if the team is successful in registering for the second contest, that team's waitlist position on the first contest will be forfeited and opened up to another team. During the process of seeking an open slot at a second contest, if the team ends up on a second waiting list, this will be the maximum number of attempts the team can make to enter the Sam's Club National BBQ Tour. When or if the team makes it into a contest via the waitlist, then the team's second waitlist position will be forfeited and made available to another team on the waitlist.
Judges registration for the 2013 Sam's Club National BBQ Tour begins on Jan. 16, 2013 at 7 PM CDT. In the event that a judge cannot preside at an event, there will be an online opt-out button and the next person on the waitlist will be notified.
Registration for the National Championship event in Bentonville will begin on Aug. 1, 2013 for Master Certified Judges.
Kicking off in Tampa, FL, on February 16, the Sam’s Club National BBQ Tour will truly be a nationwide contest! Fans in the pacific northwest will be excited to see the April 13 contest in Renton, WA. The Regional events will take place in Las Vegas, NV (4/20), Rockford, IL (8/3), Chesapeake, VA (9/7), Hendersonville, TN (9/14), Midwest City, OK (10/12). The National Championship event will be held again this year at Sam’s Club Headquarters in Bentonville, AR, on October 19.
