KCBS Challenge Grants
Applications are being accepted through April 28, 2017.
The purpose of the Challenge Grants award program is to provide matching funds, up to a maximum of $5,000 at the discretion of the Philanthropy Committee, to support projects that will complement and/or enhance the reputation, image and ideals of The Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) to celebrate, teach, preserve and promote barbeque as a culinary technique, sport and art form.
Use of Funds
KCBS funds may be used for a purpose that celebrates, teaches, preserves and/or promotes barbeque as a culinary technique and art form. Charitable works involving barbeque are allowed (e.g., Senior Que events).
KCBS will not serve as the sole funder for any project. Applicants must demonstrate how KCBS funding will be matched by funding from other sources.
Funds may not be used to pay for salaries, to support a new and/or existing BBQ contest, or for projects that offer personal benefit/profit to the applicant.
To be eligible to apply for for a KCBS Challenge Grant, the applicant must be an officer in a non-profit organization (such as a charitable organizatios, educational organization, or student club). KCBS retains all rights to determine whether or not an application meets the eligibility criteria. All decisions by the KCBS Board are final.
Interested organizations or event sponsors must complete the online application.
Applications must be completed and submitted by 11:59 pm on April 28, 2017. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
A copy of 501(c)(3) tax-exempt letter, saved in PDF format, should be uploaded with the application, if applicable.
Each application will be evaluated by the KCBS Philanthropy Committee. The KCBS Board of Directors will make the awards. All decisions are final.
Each applicant will be notified of the status of their application by June 30, 2017.
