2013 Smithfield® Rib Super Series
Smithfield and KCBS would like to invite competition teams to participate in one of the most exciting 2013 partner programs for this competition season – The Smithfield Rib Super Series! This year, Smithfield is giving the top three teams placing in the Rib Category of 12 designated KCBS events the chance to earn bonus prize money, all for simply registering for the Smithfield Rib Super Series. So get registered, get cooking and good luck!
Registration is easy. Enter your KCBS member number and answer a few questions and you'll have two racks of Spareribs to use at your event, compliments of Smithfield! (Registration opens February 20, 2013 at 10:00 am CST.)
Program Overview
The Smithfield Rib Super Series is a points chase competition across 12 KCBS sanctioned events with bonus money payouts for the top three finishers at each competition event and the top three finishers overall. After registering, teams participating in the Smithfield Rib Super Series will receive two complimentary racks of Smithfield Spareribs to experiment with or use during the competition. Teams who wish to participate in the points chase will receive points based upon their finishing position at their best four events of the series. The three qualifying teams with the highest point total overall will win bonus Grand prize money.
Rules Highlights
- Participants must register at least 3 weeks prior to each event via the KCBS website
- Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation code that they will give to the event director at check-in to receive their two racks of Smithfield ribs
- At the conclusion of each event, KCBS officials will determine the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in the traditional rib category
- Smithfield Rib Super Series Event Points (presented after each event): 1st Place = 30 points, 2nd place = 20 points, 3rd place = 15 points, Participation = 5 points
- Points will be tracked on the KCBS website
- Points can be earned at all events however only each team's four best point totals from the Smithfield Rib Super Series events will be used to calculate their cumulative point chase score
Winnings
Individual event winners will be notified onsite following the conclusion of the event. Smithfield Rib Super Series overall points winners will be awarded at the 2014 KCBS Annual Banquet.
