We started competing in 2003 but only did 3 or 4 contests a year until 2007 where we did 9 including the Royal for the first time. Our BBQ roots go back to 1969 when Randy's dad and my dad started a hog roast in our neighborhood over Labor Day Weekend. Over the next several years we learned several things not to do BBQ'n a hog but also that it's all about the friends, the stories, and then the food. That original hog roast went on for 35 years and now my brother Tony and I have carried that tradition on to our own respective neighborhoods in Polk City, IA and Omaha, NE.
