Swiggin' Pig came to fruition in August 2006 with their first contest in Nashville, TN at the Opryland Hotel.. First award that day was 10th Place Chicken and it went to Swiggin' Pig. Pitmaster, Barry Johnson, was hooked and has competed in many competitions all over the country since that day winning a few Grands and Reserve Grands along the way. Barry's Dad, Mike, is always around to help (or read a good book) along with Riley, the lovable golden retriever who receives much attention and petting at the competitions. Barry also has many family and friends who visit him at the competitions and pitch into help where needed. His favorite helper is his 4-year old daughter, Brooke, who was at that first competition in 2006 in her Mommy's tummy. She loves Daddy's BBQ (with no sauce) and is nick named "Swiggin' Piglet".
