We are a husband and wife BBQ competition team from Fayetteville NC. Our team also consists of our friends Dan and Ashley from Troy NC when their schedule allows them to attend. We started competing in 2016. I was transitioning from active duty Army to the retirement rolls after a lot of combat tours and years away from my wife. I thought that my wife and I needed a hobby we could do together and thought that competitive cooking would be a fun hobby to try. Plus she is a school teacher and I figured that would give her some patience to deal with me!!!! Well we did our first BBQ competition 3 months after i came home from Afghanistan and started the arduous Army retirement process. Our goal for the first comp was not to come in last and get all of our meat turned in. Well, we accomplished that, had a great time, and have been hooked on competition BBQ ever since. We try to compete in one competition a month based off our schedule and funds to enter. This year (2018) marks our 3d season competing. Our goal for next year is to get some sponsors and hit at least 25 competitions to include the American Royal. We will see though.
