GRILLIN' FOOLS
Year Started: 2009
Members:
LARRY STITZ
I have been grilling for 25+ years and always thought I was doing a good job. But I was also working on trying new things so I could get better. I loved watching the B.B.Q. stuff on the food channel but being from Wisconsin there weren?t any contest up here. Then in 07 I got the chance to judge a contest in Sparta as an amateur. I loved it and when I found out about a judging class I jumped at the chance. I learned a lot and judges several times in 08. Then in 09 I took the plunge and competed. I have learned more about good B.B.Q. in the last 3 years than I did in the previous 22 years and am always working on learning more.
Hometown: Wausau
State: WA
Country: US
Most wins in a year:
Biggest Wins: A 10th place in brisket. Amazing to me since i thought brisket was my worst category since I had not made it until about a month before the contest as a practice run.
I also came in 11 in ribs right in front of a team that made grand champion the year before in Menomonee Falls.
