The Smoke Freaks team was born when captains Brian and Ann Neale got hooked on competition BBQ at their first backyard contest in 2014. After entering with the hastily conjured name 'Smoking Freaks,' a couple of beat- up WSMs and expectations no greater than having a good time, they ended up taking 1st place in Ribs. At the awards ceremony, they were mistakenly identified as 'Smoke Freaks,' and the name stuck. Since then, Smoke Freaks wrapped up their first full season on the KCBS pro-BBQ circuit in 2016, placing 4th in Ribs and 13th Overall in the 10 Competitions bracket. This year, Smoke Freaks will be on the hunt for BBQ glory on their American Freakage Tour 2017, covering 5 states, 10,000 miles, 1,500 pounds of meat and 25 competitions all for 1 unwavering goal -- to be the best. When not cooking out of their Chicago headquarters, Smoke Freaks are busy designing freakishly great BBQ experiences for their customers. They combine their professional expertise with their passion for all things BBQ, offering a full range of practical BBQ Consulting services, classes & seminars and (coming soon) a signature line of Smoke Freaks rubs and seasonings.
