Team Bio:
The Burnt Offering cook team of Fort Mill, SC was started by Pit Master Chad C. Nicholson, PE a Mechanical Engineer from GT who currently works in the Nuclear Industry. Team members include Allison Nicholson, Jim Nicholson, Nate Rotheram & Ryan Waldroop. Chad started BBQing decades ago, but did not get serious until he got a smoker in 2003. Since then, has upgraded his setup many times and enjoys cooking for friends and family. Chad enjoys the painstaking process of making BBQ and finds the pleasure of God in the pursuit of excellence through the details, strategy, and patience required to make good BBQ. Between images of Old Testament burnt offerings to God making Chad think that maybe God is a fan of BBQ (Numbers 28:27) and the pleasure Chad gets through making BBQ for others, the team name of Burnt Offering just made sense. How could it be wrong if it tastes so right? Though many folks are fans of his BBQ, it was not until his debut competition at the 2015 Fiddle n Pig Shindig in Fort Mill, SC where he received validation as a Pit Master while being supported by an excellent rag-tag team of novice BBQers. Chad is hard at work to improve many aspects of his BBQ and operations with his sight set on making even better BBQ for friends and family as well as doing even better overall in future BBQ competitions. Chad thanks his wife, Allison, for helping to support his smoking addiction.
