Letter to KCBS Membership

Share this article:
July 17, 2017
To all KCBS Members,

We want to thank those of you who have sent comments to the Board regarding the proposal discussed during the last Board meeting regarding the use of LP gas. For the most part, the emails have been constructive and civil, and we want you to know we have read them and they will all be considered if and when the time comes when a motion is submitted to the Board. We encourage those of you with an opinion regarding this discussion who have not sent an email to Board to send your opinion to bod@kcbs.us. The voice of our Membership is important to the Board.

We also want to take the time to clarify a few points. The action taken at the last Board meeting was to make a "reading" of the proposal, so that it could be put into the record and allow the Membership the opportunity to comment on it before the next Board meeting.  The vote taken was to allow for a reading of the proposal, not a vote on any motion. There was not then, nor is there now, a motion before the Board to allow LP gas. The motion was made, then withdrawn, resulting in the reading that was posted on the website, to start a discussion regarding LP gas. The proposed rule change posted in the minutes is just a proposal, to be discussed by the Board, with input from the Membership. While this may seem like a technicality to some, we feel it's actually the best way to get significant changes in front of the Membership so that your voice can be heard.

To close, we would just like to say "thank you" again, to those of you who have voiced your opinions. Your opinions are appreciated, are being read, and will be considered. We will continue to move forward as best we can to support the traditions of BBQ, while continuing to manage the growth of our business to the best of our abilities. Finally, we would be remiss to not suggest that Members who really want to be involved, please consider volunteering your time and run for a seat on the Board, or volunteer to serve on a committee!

Thank you for your time and your interest in making KCBS better.

May your travels be safe, your BBQ be delicious, and your smoke be sweet,

KCBS Board of Directors
