Great American Cookout - Springfield, MO

April 26, 2018

Springfield, Missouri once again started out as the first stop for the Great American Cookout Tour! While it was a bit cool and windy, we stayed dry which was quite a difference from last year. Rock’n Ribs is hosted by the local Rotary Clubs with money raised going to Children’s Charities of the Ozarks! This was the 19th year for Rock’n Ribs which started out as a MIM event and switched over to KCBS 16 years ago. Having served on the Rock’n Ribs committee years ago, I know and appreciate all the work that goes into running a quality event and Rock’n Ribs is one of the best!

There are a lot of moving parts with 22 different sponsors on the tour this year and making sure they all get represented can be tough but starting our 11th year on the road, Christine and I are like a well-oiled machine. Well, by the 2nd or 3rd event, we will be. Dealing with five different grills and smokers will take some getting used to. Green Mountain GrillsBBQ Guru MonolithOtto WildeDiamond King Smokers and Bull Grills made for a full stage! Having all those grills and smokers means we have to have something to cook and we have some great protein partners along also! Bubba BurgersBillE’s Bacon and Compart Duroc Pork fit the bill!

Throw some Royal Oak Lump CharcoalBBQ’rs Delight and a bunch of Igloo Coolers into the mix and we have a full area!

Friday night was cool but that didn’t stop the adults from coming out for BBQ, Beer and good music! Saturday started out a bit cool but warmed up through the day and the public came out to enjoy the day! We gave out a bunch of samples and answered a lot of questions about all our sponsors!

Atlanta is the next stop for the Great American Cookout Tour!
