2012 Tour Stop #21 - 15th Annual EGGtoberfest

This was our first year using the Big Green Egg® on the tour and Christine and I must say, we have been extremely happy with the “Ultimate Cooking Experience.” Our partnership with Big Green Egg afforded us the opportunity to cook at the 15th Annual EGGtoberfest®, held on the infield at Atlanta Motor Speedway! On Friday night, there was a special party onsite with wonderfully catered food, pit car rides around the track and a special fireworks show just for attendees! With such a big production on the first night of the event, we were anxious to see what the rest of the weekend would hold!

When the gates opened, attendees picked up their goody bag loaded with cooking supplies, seasonings and a special anniversary Big Green Egg t-shirt! One of the pit crew garages was transformed to a huge Big Green Egg store for the event, offering just about every accessory you would ever need. Christine even bought me a Big Green Egg Digi Q DX2 for my birthday! And of course I had to open it up early and try it out…

EGGtoberfest brought 200 "eggheads" together to cook for over 3200 attendees and just about everything you could imagine was on the menu as each group brought their best recipes to share. We’re talking bacon wrapped meats, smoked deviled eggs topped with bacon, and my favorite, “fudgy-make-your-belly-pudgy” brownies. Did we mention that all of this was cooked on Big Green Eggs?! Christine and I participated by cooking pineapple upside down cupcakes, BBQ pulled pork pizzas and, of course, my famous "Rolled Ribs" which were a big hit with all the media and distributors who stopped by.

EGGtoberfest was a really well put together event with activities and entertainment for everyone. The kids’ area was filled with inflatables and had a big 20' Mr. Egghead perfect for that “Kodak moment.” Cooking demonstrations were going on all day by folks like Dr. BBQ, Chris Capell of Dizzy Pig and other "eggfessionals."

At the end of the event, all of the Eggs were gathered together and cleaned up for distribution to folks who pre-purchased their own Big Green Egg. As we walked out to our truck, we noticed a line of cars in the lot and thought maybe there was a big wait to get out. It ended up being a group of patient folks just waiting to pick up their new “Ultimate Cooking Experience”!

A huge thank you to all our new Big Green Egg friends for taking us in as part of the "Egghead" family! We are already looking forward to our next EGGtoberfest and planning on kicking things up a notch!
