KCBS Team of the Week: QUAU

New for 2013, KCBS is introducing one team per week to its social platforms. Team of the Week is not selected based on performance nor any other criteria, but is simply a selection from the KCBS team database.  


Team Name: QUAU

Team members: Beth, Mike, Max and Hannah Wozniak and Luke and Andrea DeRenzy

KCBS team since: 2001

Team home base: Brimfield, Ill.

Favorite competition moment: Winning the 2010 Jack Daniel’s World Championship

Competition prep tip/cooking technique: Don't try to copy what other cooks are doing, try to innovate and make your BBQ entries stand out. If your entry looks and tastes like everyone else's, it cannot stand out and make the judge think, “WOW!”

Goals for 2013: Our main goal will be to make it back to the Jack, for our 9th time.  This sets us up for our 10th year. The Jack allows those teams that have competed 9 times to compete in their 10th Jack by only having to win a single qualifying contest and not having to go through the draws.

Cooking Hardware: We use a Peoria Custom Cooker - Meat Monster!
