April 20, 2015

Spring is in the air and so is the sweet smell of BBQ! The Kansas City Barbeque Society’s own Great American Cookout is loaded up and ready to head out on its ninth tour across the nation. The Great American Cookout will bring grilling demonstrations and delicious samples conveniently to 20 of the biggest barbeque contests and food festivals in the country, from New York to California, with additional stops at 50 select retail locations across the United States.

The Great American Cookout, presented by title sponsor McCormick Grill Mates®, the official seasoning and marinade partner of the Kansas City Barbeque Society, along with Bubba Burgers®, Cowboy® Charcoal, Gateway™ Drum Smokers, Tums®, and Ball Park® Franks is back on the road, ready to share tasty recipes and give professional cooking tips to help bring your backyard grilling skills up to par with the pros.

“Different regions of the United States celebrate various foods, flavors and cultures. The Great American Cookout is designated to bring people together to enjoy that which ties us all together — great food, friends and family,” said Carolyn Wells, Executive Director of the Kansas City Barbeque Society. “This year’s tour will feature huge flavor and of course, plenty of fun.”

Tour hosts and barbecue celebrities, Mike and Christine Peters, kicked off the tour this weekend at the High on the Hog Festival in Winchester, Tenn. They will continue their trek across the country as they stop at the BBQ Captial Cookoff in Lexington, N.C. this weekend!
