1 -  Why do you want to be a member of the KCBS Board of Directors?
In my time with KCBS I have experienced many different roles and responsibilities within the organization.  My experience as a judge, organizer and cook team will be of value to the KCBS Board of Directors and the overall membership of KCBS.  Traveling the country and working with hundreds of judges, cook teams and organizers, I feel that my understanding of these roles as well as the willingness to listen to them and be an advocate for these people makes me an ideal candidate. My expertise in technology and analyzing data will be an invaluable asset to KCBS as they look to enhance current programs and create new programs.  I am currently a committee  member with the Mid Atlantic BBQ Association where I have streamlined the points system for Backyard and Steak.  I have adequate time and passion to dedicate to this role and I hope that I can count on your vote!

2 – Identify the major areas ( Cook, Judge, Organizer, Rep ) in which you are involved.
I am currently a lifetime member of KCBS and have served as a judge since 2018, a cook team since 2014 and an organizer since 2019.

3 – Identify your major short-term goal and the major long-term goal, if elected to the Board of KCBS and your plan to implement change or improvement in order to carry out each of these goals.
My primary short term goal if elected to the KCBS BOD would be to create an organizer portal for organizers across the country and world.  This portal would consist of a location for similar files and discussions regarding power, insurance, prize money/trophies, and other items that KCBS organizers would find useful.  This portal would not only be a place to pull information from, but also a place to add your information.  We have hundreds of veteran organizers that would love to see the sport grow.

My long term goal would be to work with current and future board members on defining the divisions in the sport.  The divisions I am talking about are MAster and Backyard.  An analysis of the purpose of the divisions is required as well as input from the members. I do not plan on changing anything directly, but rather working with board members, cook teams and other KCBS members to identify how the sport of Competition BBQ can grow and meet the needs of all members.

4 – The KCBS Board of Directors is a working board that spends 10-20 hours and possibly more per month in furthering the mission of KCBS depending on your role as a member of the board. If elected, please explain “ Your level of Commitment, Time and Energy “ in your role as a director.
The role of KCBS Director should be taken very seriously.  I have served on many boards and the understanding that a level of responsibility and commitment is required is a very important thing. My passion for BBQ does not only stay with me while I am cooking, I cannot think of a day in the past three years that I have not talked about KCBS. I can promise that my dedication to this role will meet and exceed the requirements to be an advocate for ALL KCBS members.

5 – List how you have participated in KCBS and for how long?
I have been a member since 2018 serving as a judge, then organizer and now a cook team simultaneously.

6 – What skills do you possess that might help the KCBS Board of Directors in its mission, ie, member?
My background is in education and more specifically in Educational Technology.  My understanding of adult learning theory can provide valuable insights for the CBJ training and other learning resources provided by KCBS.  With my background in technology, I provide knowledge and experience in excel and social media marketing technologies.  The best skill that I bring to the table is not the tools that I learned in school, but the experience I have gained from working with hundreds of cook teams, judges and organizers across the country.  I will listen to you and take your input and suggestions to be an advocate for all members.
