KCBS World Invitational
Champion pitmasters at the top of their game will compete for the KCBS World Champion title at the 6th annual KCBS World Invitational Barbeque Competition held at Wilson County Fairground in Lebanon, TN May 24-26, 2024.
On Saturday, May 25, any KCBS member in good standing can compete in the Master Series Open contest . Backyard teams are eligible to compete in the Open against Master Series teams without impacting their Backyard status. Additionally, the coveted Wells Cup is awarded to the winner of the Open event.
On Sunday, May 26, at the Backyard Invitational, Backyard Series teams compete for Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. To qualify to compete for cash, trophies and bragging rights, Backyard Series teams must win 1st place Chicken or 1st place Ribs at a KCBS-sanctioned Backyard contest between March 1, 2022-Feb. 29, 2024.
The top teams worldwide will compete at the Master Series Invitational, battling for the KCBS World Champion title on Sunday, May 26. To qualify to compete for cash, trophies and bragging rights, Master Series teams must have won a Grand Championship or Reserve Grand Championship between March 1, 2022-Feb. 29, 2024.
The KCBS World Open includes the Turkey Smoke Series turkey ancillary contest sponsored by the National Turkey Federation, designed to showcase the versatility of turkey on the smoker! To cap off the event, we will again feature a cocktail contest in partnership with Holladay Distillery. All KCBS World Invitational qualifying pitmasters must be members in good standing of the Kansas City Barbeque Society in order to compete in the KCBS World Invitational and Open.

The team packet and the map will be available approximately one week prior to the event.
Registration for Invitational Qualifying teams will be available on www.kcbs.us under Events beginning on January 26th, 2024 .
Teams may register for the Invitational series for which they qualified, as well as the Open, Turkey Smoke contest, and Holladay Cocktail contest.
For those cooking the Open Contest and Ancillaries only, registration will begin on February 2, 2024.
Registration will close at 5:00 PM CDST on April 23, 2024.
Payment may be completed via credit card or Paypal. Registration is guaranteed only after payment is received. Refunds for cancellations are available through April 23, 2024. After that date, refunds will not be issued.

Master CBJs will receive first seating at the 2024 KCBS World Invitational. All CBJs seated will be JCUP certified.
Judges must be willing to Judge, Table Captain, or Volunteer in the Judging Tent.
Volunteers are the lifeblood of KCBS events–because of them, events run more smoothly and efficiently! We have volunteer opportunities throughout the weekend. If you would like to participate in areas outside of the judging process, please let us know.
